How I can help you...

With over 30 years experience, if you want advice and help on how to keep your children 'Safe & Strong', I can help...

1-to-1 Safety Consulting (4 x weekly video calls)

Jo FitzGerald: 1-to-1 Safety Consulting Level 1

I will conduct four, 30-minute weekly online video training sessions, helping parents and children develop key safety plans...  Purpose: To ensure that parents and children (and grandparents, nannies, childminders, etc.) know: about dangerous situations in advance how to avoid them what to do if they occur This way, everyone can stay ‘Safe & Strong’  Week 1: Firstly, a 'Get to know you' introduction, putting your child at ease I then explain why we're having the calls and how much better everyone will feel at the end. Because you will have plans! Next is how to prevent kids getting lost, and what everyone should do if it does happen Lastly, I answer any questions you might have, give you some important tips, and set your homework for the coming week (practicing your ‘getting lost’ actions)!  Week 2: To start with, we discuss your week and how you now know what to do if a child gets lost The main topic of this week is house fires – how to prevent them, and what you MUST do RIGHT AWAY if you discover a fire (This isn’t at all scary for kids, but is VERY important in saving lives.) Lastly, I answer any questions you might have, give you some important tips, and set your homework for the coming week (creating your ‘Fire Plan’ and practicing getting out of the house)!  Week 3: To start with, we discuss your week and how you now know what to do in case of a house fire This week, we’re going to talk about terrorist attacks, or similar things. The main focus is not that you will ever experience such an event (it’s unlikely), but that your child will see coverage in the media and have anxiety that such things COULD happen… I’ll cover the 3 things you MUST know to stay as safe as possible should such an event happen Lastly, I answer any questions you might have, give you some important tips, and set your homework for the coming week (practicing ‘Run, Hide, Tell’)!  Week 4: This is where it all comes together. We’ll: recap all the different situations check that we’ve prepared our plans have a quick quiz answer any last questions And – there’s no homework this week!  Outcome: After this coaching, your children (and you!) will be more relaxed, knowing that you have clear plans in place to stay safe. You’ll have opened communication with your child and can now easily discuss anything that might be worrying them.  Materials: I’ll provide worksheets for each session that you can download and print off
